Maths Classes

Term 4:

Mrs Small (Yr 8 Maths) Week One and Two - Boys please use the number revision booklet and answer booklet that you were given today to assist you revising for the examination.  You can also reuse the booklet I made for you for the mid-year examination.  Mrs Small.

Please continue to do the homework that is being set - which is recapping over the parts of the mid year examination, which we also did together for competency in Term 3.

We will test Statistics and Algebra as separate assessments post examinations, prior to the end of Term 4.

Please look at the detailed list of what to revise as discussed with you in class on Monday and again today under the "heading" Year 7 and Year 8 exams on the Blog to ensure you are prepared.

Attitude + Aspire + Commitment = Achievement - Best wishes.

NL Maths - Week 6:
Using the website https://ourworldindata.org/, or another useful website with statistics, you are to choose two sets of statistics in order to see if there is a correlation between the two. Similar to the 'Spurious Correlations' website, there may actually be no real-life connection between the two sets of data, however they appear to be connected when statistics are viewed.
Phrase your investigation question along the lines of:

"I wonder if there is a correlation between ............ and .................."

You will need to have chosen the two sets of data before our maths session on Wednesday when you will start to compile and present the statistics.

(MS) TIP for your exam:

"Think" about what the question is asking you.  Think what do I know that can solve that.  What strategy could I use to make the number computation easier to work with.
If the question is in written english instead of digit/number format  - what number operation/s is the question asking you to undertake to solve the problem.
